Most blog software these days offer a “pinging” mechanism by which a weblog notifies a server that its content has been updated which also seems to help get blog posts spidered and indexed very quickly. The best part is, if done correctly, blog posts will also show up in blog searches such as Google's Blog search and Technorati Blog searches.

Using a blog is easier than creating newsletters and e-newsletters. It can be used to inform your visitors of any specials, current events, and company changes at any time. Compelling content will lead to repeat visitors and subscribers. It helps with search engine optimization in that it can be used to gain search engine traffic on additional keywords with the additional content and links to your blog.
