QUESTION: I would like to add a folder to my site and create new pages there.
ANSWER:
We do not typically recommend putting files in a folder. Normally it's best to put files in the main directory, from a search engine standpoint. If it is an important main page, then it should be in the main directory. If you are not concerned about search engine performance for these new pages, and for organizational or other reasons, using a folder makes the most sense...here's how to create a new folder in contribute.
1. Click on the "New Page" button to create a new page in Contribute that will reside in the new folder (which you will create when it is time to publish the new page).
2. when page is ready, click on “Publish”
- Name the page as usual
- There will also be an option to “Choose Folder”
- In “Choose Folder, ” there is an option to make a new folder (folder icon with asterisk)
- Name the new folder
- Click on “Select [folder name]”
- Click on “Publish” to publish the new page in the new folder.
3. In the future, when you make another new page for this folder, you can again use the “Choose Folder” option, but this time select the existing folder instead of creating a new one.
